Target Audience
Professional Service colleagues in a research-related role.
Priority will be given to colleagues who are employed by the University if the course reaches capacity.
Workshop Overview
This session will introduce you to open access and how it relates to academic publishing. It will give you an overview of the different types of open access and how we support these, considering the routes available, funder and institutional expectations, copyright and rights retention and sources of funding.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand open access and its benefits
- Be aware of different types of open access publishing
- Understand funder and institutional open access expectations and requirements
- Know about open access-related copyright and licencing
- Have an awareness of the open access publishing options available to researchers at Newcastle University
